The piece explores themes of the divine feminine, fertility and menstruation. My investigation was guided by the following questions:
- What is the legacy of my relationships to my body?
- How do I (or not) construct my relationship to embodiment in the same ways other women in my family did?
- How does the knowledge and understanding of their own bodies (women in our families) informed my own, by way of mimicry or rebellion?
- How does accessing the power of the divine feminine through deep connection with our cyclical nature as menstruating women influences and empowers that perception?
- How is my cycle connected to the earth and its natural energies? Specifically, to the phases of the moon?
